7 tips for sheet metal punching
- There is always a wrong side and a straight side of the product. If it matters, make sure that the main view of the drawing always shows the top side, i.e. the side of the wrong side.
- We of course grade everything we punch, but write it on the drawing anyway if it is a requirement!
- We want both a PDF drawing and a step file, from which we program the machine.
- Choose the right quality of material suitable for die-cutting,
- Finish requirements should be stated on the drawing! Normally there will be some scratchiness on the underside of the plate, which we can remove if desired.
- We have a very wide range of tools, so there's a lot you can do with them, but sometimes you need to strike a section repeatedly by stepping shorter tools. This is called nibbling. This can leave small step marks on the edges. Discuss this with us beforehand if it is sensitive.
- If the product is very sensitive, it is possible to have the plate with protective plastic on one side.
