FAQ
How thick can you cut sheet metal with a laser?
The thickness of sheet metal that can be cut with a laser depends on several factors, such as laser power, material properties and cutting design. In general, lasers with higher power can cut thicker materials.
At Plåt & Mekano Romator, we have three 2 kW carbon dioxide lasers that can cut up to 10 mm in black steel, 6 mm in stainless steel and 5 in aluminium.
In the new Amada EML 2515AJ fibre combi laser with a 3 kW laser source, we can cut even thicker materials than our previous machines and at a higher speed. We also cut thinner materials.
